AUS Open: Defending champion Federer enters third round

Two-time defending Australian Open champion Roger Federer has moved into the third round after a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over Great Britain's Dan Evans. The Swiss maestro, who is gunning for a record seventh title at the Melbourne Park, took 2 hours and 35 minutes to get past his opponent.

Also moving into the third round was last year;s runner-up Marin Cilic. The sixth seed Croat won 7-5, 6-7 (9), 6-4, 6-4 against USA's Mackenzie McDonald.

Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas also took four sets to book his place in the third round. The 14th seed won 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 against Victor Troicki of Serbia.
