I remember vividly as a boy, when my mother would call out to me, every time, to oil my hair. She would have to literally chase me around the house because I would absolutely hate it. But now, I get so many people asking me what I do to maintain my hair, and to be honest, they need to consult my mom for all her hacks and take notes! The tables have turned today and I keep reaching out to her, almost bugging her to tell me what I should be doing to maintain my hair, what I should apply, what combination of oils she used so that I can attempt this myself now. But @bbluntindia, thank you for helping me pin point yet another reason to appreciate this beautiful lady I call Amma …and she has always been the best one at that! Happy Mother’s Day, Amma and thank you for always being there for me, solving any problem I threw your way, hair or otherwise ❤️ #BBLUNTIndia #GotItFromMyMama

Happy Mother’s Day❤️ As you can see, the ritual of oiling hair is a family affair in the Vajani household. It has always been! An age-old tradition that has been passed down from my grand mom to mum and from mum to me. It’s something I look forward to even today, especially with crazy shoot schedules and even more so, in this unprecedented lockdown! It’s my relaxing go-to in my otherwise fast paced, run-out-the-door life. I remember this one day when I was so bogged down, mum offered to give me an oil massage and as though magically all my worries vanished into thin air. So it only makes sense for me to honor the ladies in my life on Mother’s Day with a do-over of this special at-home oiling session. Thank you @bbluntindia for making sure the tables turn and that we pamper the leading ladies in our lives with a relaxing time. It got me reflecting on the simplest of things and most important of people that we tend to overlook in our lives. This cherished childhood memory, for instance - I #GotItFromMyMama just like she, got it from hers! #BbluntIndia #HappyMothersDay

Yes sometimes I am the spitting image of my mother :) I have inherited my extroversion and gregariousness from her and her alone. One of my fondest memory is of Mummy doing her hair: a bun! I always wanted to imitate her style, though all I had was a short pixie cut to work with for most of my childhood ( I also dressed up in a saree when I was 5 years old to look like my mother in a fancy dress competition) Now, there are times, she watches me get ready for my shoots/auditions and tells me to do my hair in a way that suits my face the best. And she’s always right! I owe the slightest hint of elegance that I embody to this one person – my mother! So Yes, I #GotItFromMyMama! @bbluntindia, thank you for taking me back in time to cherish special days from my childhood spent with mummy! ♥️ #HappyMothersDay

When I was in the 2nd grade, my dad went to London for a year to study, and we all followed him shortly after. Me and my sister joined a school there, and mom would pick us up every day, carrying this massive umbrella, because it was mostly cold and often rainy. And one day post school, as we were on our way to pick up some groceries, a teenager yelled a racial slur and threw something at us. It turned out to be a plastic grenade. My mom took one long look at it, yelled ‘HEY YOU!!! RUKK’ and took off after him. Picture this 5’3 lady with a 4 foot umbrella and two kids , in a foreign country for the first time, chasing this egregious youth (who was clearly shocked at being given chase) down till he just gave up. And didn’t let him off the hook till he apologised. That’s the lady I’m proud to call my mom. A Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there whose awesomeness can’t be put into words, essays or anecdotes ❤️
