This year has brought with it a fair number of Telugu films that have broken free of stereotypes and introduced the movie lovers to a style of filmmaking that’s fresh and inventive. It has also shown the spotlight on some very promising filmmakers, who have managed both critical and commercial acclaim with their very first movie.
Buchi Babu Sana – Uppena helmer- Buchi Babu Sana, who assisted Sukumar on Nannaku Prematho, Rangasthalam, Kumari 21F, and Arya 2, made his directorial debut with the romantic movie Uppena which was made on the budget of Rs 22 Cr and it earned Rs 92 crore at the box office. The movie starred Vaisshnav Tej, Krithi Shetty and Vijay Sethupathi.
Vijay Kanakamedala – Naandhi helmer: Allari Naresh and Aishwarya Rajesh starrer Naandhi was a hit movie at the box office. Vijay Kanakamedala, worked as an assistant director under the direction of Harish Shankar for films like Mirapakai, Ramayya Vastavayya, Subramanyam for Sale and DJ.
Karthik Rapolu – Ek Mini Katha helmer – The movie starred Santosh Shobhan, Kavya Thapar, Saptagiri, Posani Krishna Murali, Shraddha Das, Brahmaji, Harsha Vardhan and Duvvasi Mohan. Karthik Rapolu assisted Merlapaka Gandhi on Krishnarjuna Yudham.
Gowri Ronanki – Pelli SandaD helmer- The movie starred Roshan Meka and Sreeleela. The hilarious scenes and punch lines were highlighted.
Hasith Goli – Raja Raja Chora helmer- The movie starred Sree Vishnu, Megha Akash, Sunaina and Ravi Babu. The movie brought much critical praise and recognition for Hasith Goli.
