Federer slips to sixth spot in ATP Rankings

Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic has strengthened his grip at the top of the men's ATP tennis ranking but 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has slipped three spots to sixth after a fourth round loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Nadal, beaten in straight sets by Djokovic in the final on Sunday, held on to second spot in the rankings. Alexander Zverev replaces Federer in third position ahead of Juan Martin Del Potro, who missed the Australian Open.

Despite his early elimination in Melbourne, South African Kevin Anderson, a Wimbledon finalist last year, moved up a spot into fifth.

Kei Nishikori has risen two places to seventh spot after a quarter-final appearance at Melbourne Park.

Meanwhile, Indian tennis players Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Ankita Raina have achieved their career-best rankings of 102 and 168 respectively. Prajnesh had made it to the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time in Melbourne, but lost to eventual quarter-finalist Frances Tiafoe in the first round.
